Casio Midi Driver Install on E310 Problem

I am trying to install a Casio piano MIDI driver on a E310 running Windows XP Home Edition. It won't recogninze the USB connection and thus won't install the driver from the CD. If I try it on my D620 Latitude running XP professional it works fine.

Is the problem that XP Home Edtion is preventing the install or that there is a need for a different sound card in the E310 to make it work?

Any suggestions appreciated
Thanks

Do you have a MIDI port?  They are not standard on PC's anymore (used to be the game/MIDI port was standard).  Also, is the drivers for Windows XP or for older operating systems.  You need XP specific drivers.

A little more detailed info would help.

Most people buy a USB/MIDI adapter device to interface MIDI.  They are about $40 at larger music stores or the on line sites such as www.musiciansfriend.com

Yes, the MIDI driver is for WinXP.

There is not a MIDI port on the computer. The cable used to connect the Casio piano to the Dell E310 PC is a MIDI-USB cable.

I am guessing that I need a MIDI/Game Port adapter card. Agree?

    Thanks-

No.  If you have the MIDI/USB cable that is all you need.  The game port/MIDI port is old technology, a thing of the past - went the way of Serial and parallel ports on new PC's.

Is the driver for a game port/MIDI port instead of USB?  That may be the problem and you need to get a USB port driver.

It is a USB midi driver which came with the piano, midi/usb cable and music software (package deal).

Not sure what it the problem is now but thanks for your help and suggestions!
