                        When ever u change a power supply, u just need to make sure that u connect it to the neccessary hardware. There are mostly 2 connectors which go on to the motherboard, one is a 20 pin connector whle the other is a 4 pin connector. Also u have the connectors which connect to the back of th drives, like hard drive, floppy drive, cd drive, etc. They are white coloured sockets smaller than the main big socket which connects on to the motherboard. I found out (in another thread) that certain Dell systems might need a special power supply! What model do you have?

I recommend that you ask if your model takes a standard power supply or not.

i have a dimension 8300 with:

P4 2.8ghz HT
2x256 mb ram
2x80 gb hd
geforce fx5200 (wich i want to upgrade to a geforce 6600gt)

on http://pcpowercooling.com they have special dell power supply's. does this mean that you need special power supply's in dell pc's?

You can just go to BestBuy & pickup an Antec PSU if you want.

i can't buy at BestBuy because i live in the Netherlands...

something else: what do you think are good power supply producers? because the last thing i want is a noisy power supply...

Thanks for reminding me that this is international. Guess I was being a typical American :)

I like this PSU from Antec, it has 1 fan & is very quiet (I have 2 on different computers) although shipping to you might be a bit high. http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/Antec_True380S.html

Please note that the +12V is 24A not 18A as shown on the web page.
