Wow, VCraig - you're really on a tear lately! They oughta give you honorary moderator privileges. You could save them time by sending me my daily TOS violation notice direct. Boy, I hate when some of my best writing gets erased... :)- Blame it on the lousy Michigan weather I guess.... and what got erased..? But do admit to a high degree of exaspiration because of a sudden influx of people who just don't seem to READ ...or care where they post...like posting software problems with a D2400 in the XPS Hardware forum, etc. ....and this particular post..

I found that the moderators of this forum provide more help in dealing with issues than unlimited hours on the phone with tech support.
Yes they speak English... sorta..
But they rely totaly on scripts and seem to have very little actual computer knowledge. They take you through needless steps.. and if you call again with the same case number they will try to take you through the same steps all over again.
I have had two issues with my computer.. hrs talking to tech support solved neither of them. One I figured out on my own and the other was taken care of by the moderators of these forums.
I will not call tech support ever again, the headaches are not worth it. I will post any problems I have here.. and if they remove these forums or swap them over to the same people running the phone lines.. I will simply not by a Dell again.- In your initial post you didn't say anything about personal support problems, you didn't state you even had a Dell system let alone the model, or even when your "issues" occurred with your system. It was solely and totally about the hiring issue in India - and absolutely nothing to do with the content or purpose of this board which is discussion between Dell community members related to XPS Desktop General Hardware issues. You say you have a beef with Dell support, but don't state the reason - software, hardware, whatever - then state you'll post any problems you have here. If you have a question about or a problem with a XPS Desktop system, then ask it. If all you want to accomplish is rant about alleged poor Dell support, then post it here http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=cc_general .

VCraig, please excuse me if I sound rude but I gotta question your post. According to what you say, this particular area is ONLY for XPS owners with a General Hardware Issue related to XPS systems? If this is so, then why don't we have to log into this board with a genuine XPS service tag number in addition to our login ID to prove we actually OWN an XPS before we can post?
I agree, this board should be PRIMARILY for issues related to XPS systems. But NOT entirely. IMO, "General" issues related to Dell products and/or services are acceptable here as well.
Why, you ask? Well it's simple. Let's say a 1st-time Dell customer comes to this board to do research before his purchase. He's all hot & bothered to get an XPS, and unlike you he doesn't have unlimited time to read all the other boards. So he focuses on the object of his desire, the XPS board.
If, as you suggest, only 100% XPS-related issues are allowed to be discussed here, my hypothetical 1st-time customer might miss out on a lot of useful information regarding Dell and the quality of their products, service and support IN GENERAL that might influence his decision.
But if there is the occasional 100% off-limits "general" post, he might have the opportunity to learn something about Dell he would otherwise miss out on.
Knowledge is a GOOD thing, and it should be spread as far and wide as possible. Even if that means getting slightly off-topic. I'm not saying people should come in here and rant about President Bush, that is going too far. But if it's about Dell, it has a place on this board, since this board is about Dell products.
BTW, you're not Indian are you? I've noticed you seem to be particularly sensitive on this subject......"If, as you suggest, only 100% XPS-related issues are allowed to be discussed here, my hypothetical 1st-time customer might miss out on a lot of useful information regarding Dell and the quality of their products, service and support IN GENERAL that might influence his decision"....
I did not write "only 100% XPS-related issues" - I said this board/Dell stated topic is for XPS General Hardware related issues. Your interpretation of what I wrote coupled with your selective omission of the word hardware from the XPS General Hardware forum header to rationalize your hypothetical arguments to post whatever comes to mind is why I raised the issue in the first place. There is a protocol for participation on these boards, namely keeping the discussion relevent to the particular board header - and one which I've adhered to for five and a half years on Dell community forums, that lately is being ignored in spades by a large number of new people posting here. I would like to elaborate, but better left unsaid..As to your last sentence questioning my ethnicity with a derogatory connotation, comments like that will get you banned from these boards.
