Hi everybody, can you help, I am trying to assist a Dell 3000 owner 200 miles away from me.

He has a 23in1 card reader that is new and known to be good, if it is plugged into his Dell 3000 (front or rear ports) WinXP home says the device has malfunctioned and is not recognised.

Another good card of the same make gives the same answer.

Any ideas please, the computer is 15 months old, so probably out of warranty.

Everything else appears to work normally, including the USB mouse.

A camera plugged into the USB port works as it should.
