I am unable to launch games. After I hit the desktop icon I get a black screen for a split second and then it reverts back to the desktop. The only thing I have tried that remotely works is getting into task manager, right clicking the name of the game and clicking “switch to.” This works for a while but is hit or miss. I have tried running the games in compatibility mode, and as administrator, nothing works. Sometimes I can get the games to work but after rebooting the same behavior occurs. I have tried reinstalling the graphic card software by removing it from the add/remove programs as well as removing all traces of it from the registry. I have tried reinstalling the games themselves. The games I am playing are Plants & Zombies, Bejeweled Deluxe 2, and Rainbow Web which are very simple games. I recently cloned my old HD to a Samsung 840 HD by using Acronis. Everything went fine except drive D shrank in size. I expanded it using Easeus partition master. Everything worked fine and I am able to get into The F8 safe mode and F12 diagnostic modes. The games would not launch in my old HD either. Since I had not played them in a long time, I am not sure at what point any software installation may have caused the problem. I am using a XPS 8300, Windows 7 home, AMD Radeon HD6670 with software 13.12. My screen resolution is 1680 x 2050 and I am using a 24 inch monitor. I have tried changing the resolution. The volume is clean. I have tried running CC cleaner registry cleaner and it seemed to work better. Right now I have restored my computer to the point before I used the cleaner and nothing works. Can I assume that this is a software problem?
