GX620 Tower

Dell GX620 Tower, Intel 3.2GHz CPU, 2GB DDR2 Memory, 160GB Fast SATA Hard Drive, DVD/CDRW.
Attempted to reinstall or repair WinXP Pro with factory CD(LEGAL).
Entered F2  Screen, blue, gets to 1. New install... 2. Repair...  3. Exit without XP install.
Will go no further..
I have installed Dell CD and light comes on for 2-3 seconds then goes out.
Still nothing happens but screen remains the same.
Computer has been flawless until this morning . The Cursor did not function nor would it delete  or print (onscreen).
Replaced mouse and keyboard from another functioning unit, still no change.
What am I missing ?

Most versions of windows flash for 1 second or less PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM THIS DISC.

If you ignore that it hangs.   No amount of reinstalls to a physically bad hard drive will fix it.F2 THEN F12 F2 THEN F12 F2 THEN F12 OVER AND OVER is how you get the boot menu to come up.

If you have 2 optical drives only the upper drive will boot.

XP requires sata operation to be combination or ATA instead of NORMAL or AHCI.

Otherwise you must have drivers ON FLOPPY FOR F6 INSTALLATION.

THERE IS NO PRINTING FROM PRINTSCREEN ON BIOS or in windows.  Thats a dos function from 30 years ago.

    Solution found, gx620  every one.

Still determined to fix this GX620 , I recalled on other computers I have played with, that CMOS needs to be cleared internally to format. Dell does not tell you that. The Hard Drive was/is fine.
The Jumpers for PSWD and RTCRST(CMOS to Dell users) were not on either pins., but I had one and put it on each for a couple of seconds then removed them. I cranked that computer on and THEN was able to get access to format and reinstall XP.
The CD  JSM Computers included with this GX620 did it's job!  Windows XP is re-installed. Everything else can easily be taken care of. I felt like "Bones on Star Trek" when he said, " I think I can cure a rainy day".
    Thanks for your input everyone.
