Installing a Modem

Is installing a modem any more complicated than installing a memory module. If a new ISP doesn't solve the constant slowdowns and disconnects that I experience on MSN, I suppose the next step is to tell Dell to send me a modem. I seriously doubt that it is my phone line, because I never have had problems before with another computer and ISP. As always, thanks for any help....

Depending wher you're located. the slowdown is probably MSN. I got rid of it after 2 months because it was slow and clunky even with good connections. Hold your curser over the connection icon in the System Tray. It should tell you the connection speed. If the connection speed is good, its most likely MSN. If the connection speeds are slow, it could be your modem.
Replacing a modem would be a little more involve than a RAM module. The physical part of the installation is about the same. You need to install a driver with a modem, unless you are replacing the modem with an identical one. You might not need to install the driver.
