L2 Cache Problem

We are a VAR. We have two Dimension L550r waiting to ship to customers. (PIII 550E MHz, 128MB SDRAM, 20G hard drive, etc., etc.)

After chasing random crashes, lockups, and reboots, we downloaded and ran AMI Diag 6.00. Test OK until we got to L2 Cache...

Here are the -complete- results:

L2 Cahce Test 1.07

82459AB, BSRAM L2 Cache (256KB)...

ERROR: L2 Control Register test failed.
TagRAM Control Registers Test: FAIL

L2 Cache Control Register Rad Failed.
Fix: Replace L2 TagRAM.

AMI Diag is run in DOS mode - no Windows involved.

Same results on both systems. I am trying to verify these results. Anybody seen this problem? Anybody used AMI Diag. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Run the Dell Diagnostic tests for this system. In particular, run the System Set and RAM tests. If you are getting similar failures in Dell Diagnostics, I would recommend contacting Dell Technical Support for service.
