Monitor is not responding

I have a Dimension 8400 running XP pro (latest service pack) and an Apple Cinema display, During a transition from one user to another the screen went blank and has yet to come back on despite repeated attempts to drain the memory by restarting after disconnecting the power. The monitor is functioning properly as I tested it on another machine. As there is no way to view whats going on I am at a lost to gets things back in order. Any suggestions, your thoughts are appreciated

Did you try shutting off the computer and rebooting into Safe Mode? Hold the power button on the computer down until it shuts off if that is the only way to shut it off. Log into a a dff user acct. This might be coincidental and have nothing to do with the monitor. It could be a problem with the computer or video card. Try a diff monitor to check.
