MOTHER BOARD INSTALL

According to the phone tech. I needed to replace my mother board. After installing, the computer would not turn on. Checked all power connections, all OK. Green power light is on, on the board itself. Why won't the computer turn on, help.

    DIMENSION 3000, I still have the old board. With the old board, I was getting message when turned on. If I remember right.(F1 to continue, or F2 to reboot). If I hit either button the same message came up. As to the lights, they're not on.

    Possibly, or just maybe it was an intermittent fault before complete failure.

    first what happened to your old MOBO, and dell has a history of mistaking faulty power supplies with dead mobos

    What model system, and what is the pattern (color, ABCD) of lights on the back of the case?

    Much more likely the power supply is shot than the mainboard.

    The computer would turn before I replaced the board, Could I have blown the power supply in the process?

    How exactly did you reach the conclusion that the previous motherboard was responsible for the F1, F2 message at POST? Based on my experiences troubleshooting Dimension systems I'm inclined to think something else was at fault.

    Dell tech. informed me that the error was caused by the mother board, and that it was bad.

    Please give the complete message at boot, to help you. The more complete info you give us at the forum the more help you will get.

    Does it say Cannot find hard drive? for example.

    Since switching mother boards I no longer have power to the computer. There is a green light on on the board, but no power to the rest of the computer.
