Need driver for Mass storage controller
I have a Dell 8400, i have just restored it using the restore diskes that dell sent me. I download the drivers on dells website but can't seem to get my Mass storage controller working. I have a 2nd hard drive and it doesnt show up. In device manager i have an eclimation mark on my mass storage controller. Where can i get this driver?

Did you install the Desktop System Software for the 8400?
Correct installation order is:
XP
Desktop System Software, here : http://tinyurl.com/2b93ek
Chipset driver, here: http://tinyurl.com/29eo76
Video driver
Audio driver
Network driver
etc.

I have download both from both the links with no success.
I have windows XP. Any other suggestions?

I just did that, and it still didnt work.
It was working perfectly before i reinstalled everything.
Any other suggestions?

Reboot in safe mode (F8 before XP starts to load) and install the chipset again. Shut down and reboot normally.

Dumb question: Did the external drive come with a CD with it's own drivers that need installation?

Did you install the disk controller drivers?
Presumably this is Windows XP.
