No Boot - No Beeps - Nothing.
Inspiron One 2305 Computer was excellent except for yesterday. Stopped working (can't get a straight story on the when or how or what was going on). Now no beeps, no fan, no nothing. The power supply connector (next to where it plugs into chassis) has a blue light. Possibly the power adapter unit? Power supply? Does anybody know what watts the power supply is? I'm reading 90 and 140 on different manuals and web sites. Suggestions on where to start is appreciated. Darryl

The unit is getting no lights. Not even the power button. Only a blue light on the power adapter. The adapter brick doesn't have 130W on it anywhere. But the model number shows it is the 130W.
Moved the unit desk to table area to look at it. Different power outlet. No power strip. Still no lights, fans, etc.
No power light.
Could it be the power adapter or possible power supply unit?
Do these have a PSU?
Thank you for your advice.
Darryl
Don't believe they have an internal power supply. Don't see anything in the instruction manual about replacing a power supply, and none is shown in any of the diagrams in that doc.
So you may have to try a known working 130 W power brick...
Sorry to hear a new adaptor didn't help. :emotion-6:
- If you're still under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support ASAP
- Broken / failed power button? When you open the case, check the connector from power button to motherboard
- Visually inspect USB ports to see if any of them is bent or otherwise deformed. A shorted USB port could prevent it from booting. Use a flashlight to look but don't put anything metal into the ports. And try booting without any USB devices connected.
- Try clearing BIOS. After you unplug, press/hold power button for ~15. Open case and remove motherboard battery. Press/hold power button again for ~30 sec. Reinstall battery (right-side-up!).
Post back and let us know what happens after you remove/reseat RAM, clear BIOS, disconnect HDD, and disconnect optical drive too.
Removed RAM. No beeps. No fans.
Removed HDD power/data cables. No beeps. No fans.
Inspected USB ports. No visible damage.
Nothing plugged into unit except power adapter.
Note: with back cover off - when I push the power button I see the fan want to turn for 1/10 second but won't spin. It sees a bit of electrical current to just nudge it a tinest bit but doesn't spin.
Further suggestions?
You're not making this easy...
I saw in another thread on these forums about an issue with the "converter card" with same system having freezing problems. Not sure what that card does, but when the user inspected it, he found bad capacitors (bulging, leaking).
If that's not the problem here, then you may have to consider a motherboard failure....
I actually searched and read many threads related to the 2305 power up issue. Don't recall this actual thread but it was in the same thoughts.
I did disconnect the HDD and DVD drives and tried to boot. No luck.
The guys said the computer was working fine and then just died.
Hate to toss a 23" all-in-one, but the mobo costs are a little out there.
Thanks for all the help.
Did you check the converter card for bad capacitors? If that's the problem, you may not need a whole new mobo.
And I suppose the warranty expired...
Pity to toss a whole system. Maybe keep it for spare parts if you find somebody else with a different 2305 problem.

The manual lists both a 90 W and 130 W power adaptor, but it's for both the 2305 (AMD CPU) and 2310 (Intel CPU) so wattage probably depends on the model. Doesn't the existing adaptor have the wattage marked on it?
Does the power light come on?
Light on the button indicates the following power states:
If you're using a power strip or surge protector, remove those and try connecting PC directly to a working wall outlet.
