problem with defragmenting
I have a Dimension 4100. With Windows ME. The disk defragmenter does not work. It goes a little while, but then it says there are errors and to run Scan Disk. We ran that and it kept restarting because it said there were too many programs running. There were no programs running except in the background. This is an old computer. Could anyone tell us how to fix this?

Hi,
Try defragging in Safe Mode
To get to Safe mode, reboot and tap F8 once or twice a second. Then choose from the boot menu.
