Im using a Dim. 4300 ... I upgraded my bios but it was a long time ago.  Also, I have cleared the NVRAM in the past but not within the past month.

I'm assuming that the system worked fine after the BIOS upgrade and that your problems start there after.  If so, try running the Dell Diagnostics on the whole system if clearing the NVRAM doesn't help.  The problems you are experiencing could be related to a failing piece of hardware like an IDE drive.

You can download the Dell Diagnostics by clicking here.   Once downloaded to your hard drive just run the file and it will prompt you into creating bootable diagnostic floppy disks so have a couple of blank ones available.  Once the floppies are created just insert floppy #1 into the floppy drive and reboot the system.  The machine will boot from the floppy and prompt you into running the diagnostic program.

Then download the hard drive version of the diagnostics that can be found by clicking here.  Follow the directions on the download page for installing and using the utility.  

 

If your system came with a Dell Resource CD then also try booting the system from that media to see if the diagnostic utilities were included.

I installed like it said, but I do not see the CDD110 file?  What should I do?

The CD110910 file is the version of the Dell Diagnostics that creates a bootable diagnostic floppy disk(s).  The version you downloaded and installed should have been the diagnostics that can be run from the hard drive.  Double to check see if the CD110910 file wasn't put into the folder/directory that you installed the diagnostics to.  After the installation of the diagnostics to your hard drive, you should be able to run the diagnostics from an executable file found in that folder/directory.
