i've used kingston before and had no problems, but if crucial is slightly better than i guess its worth a couple more bucks.

As long as I get that extra speed in my memory its all good.

I would avoid the Kingston Value Ram line.  We have seen a lot of posts with compatiblity problems with Dell's and the KVR series.  Dell's have a history of memory compatibility problems with non-Dell memory and for that reason we suggest Crucial memory as it is one brand that is guaranteed to work in Dell's.  Other brands will work but there is no consistency on which will and which won't (except the Kingston Value Ram line).

I use Kingston value ram on my 8400 4 gigs for over a year now and have no problems with it !!

The 800 MHz will only run at 533 MHz because of the buss speed of the ram  it is set to 533 and it can not be changed , just to let you know  !

It's not necessarily a case of it being "better" RAM - but more importantly (IMO) the fact (as Fireberd mentions) that Crucial "guarantee" their recommended RAM will work in your system :emotion-5:.

But as advised above... whilst you may well be able to install faster RAM in your system, it'll only run at the lower speed, due to limitations of the memory bus.

So however cheap it might be... is it really worth buying faster RAM, when you can't utilise it's full potential :emotion-55:
