USB for WinNT
Hi,
I have a Dell Dimension XPS R400 with two USB ports.
Problem: I'm running WinNT 4.0, Service Pack 5; which doesn't recognize USB.
I want to connect a Nikon CoolPix 990 camera to download images.
I couldn't find any solutions at the Microsoft or Dell websites.
Can anyone point me towards a sloution?
Thanks,
Rob

- More USB for NT
Thanks for the suggestion to use a USB-to-Serial adapter cable, but it doesn't look like it will work for my situation.
The Nikon camera connector cable has a small round connector for the camera at one end and a USB (RS-232) connector for the computer end.
It looks like the B&B UC232a cable would not connect to my camera, and NT still would not recognize the USB port.
I was hoping to find a driver that would allow NT to see the USB port, then I could use the cable that came with my camera.
I would assume that a differant communication protocol is used at the USB port, as opposed to the Serial port, such that I would not be able to send data from a USB device to a serial port.
Thanks,
Rob
