why can't I delete?

When I try deleting a file I get this message -

Error Deleting File or Folder
Cannot delete (file name): access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not in use.

I even rebooted my computer and I still can't delete this file.

Thanks for the help.

I got the same error message yesterday when i was deleting some gaming files. I found out that they were being used by another program which is probably what yours is doing. This is especailly true if these files are font files or something of the like.

I'm pretty sure they are not being used by anybody.

I think i'm denied access due to some file atributes.

    PX97,

You can always delete them in DOS mode (unless you are running XP). However, if you think it is because of file attributes, right-click the filename in Windows Explorer, select Properties, and remove the "Read only" attribute.

    I'm running XP.

The read-only property is off. I fact I am denied access in changing any of the file attributes including the "read-only" attribute.
