Why do you do this Dell?
Dell, Your computers are very bad, they only have one eIDE port and no AGP ports when it doesen't even really cost anymore.
Your boards are made very badly on the whole, they lack stability and can't run at an acceptable FSB, even moreso than other OEMS.
Your BIOS also needs a complete reworking, it's completely inflexible. You can't even change the timings on the memory. I would want 2-2-2-5. And you cannot adjust the FSB settings.
The motherboards you use are the worst motherboards known to mankind. You use unbranded RAM(because if the company is unwilling to put it's name on it then it has to be good) You use generic low quality power supplies, and Pentium 4 based processers(which Intel admits as being inferior to their competitors current product and even moreso than the upcoming Core 2 series)
And for the record, most OEMS like HP, eMachines, etc.. prevent overclocking like you. They also use horribly low quality parts but just not as badly as you do.
To get a real PC, go through Voodoo or Falcon or NW, they actually use quality parts.
Or you could build a PC of your caliber 1/10 the cost.
Look at pricing, you sell directly and cut out middle men, yet your products still manage to cost more...despite quality differences being more or less nonexistant. There is a reason why you(Dell) make more money than any other company.
From the reason listed above, you are a company that rips people off and should really start making changes to make your company better.

They are intel motherboards, made by Foxconn, and currently Foxconn makes one of the best motherboard for Socket AM2. Dell's motherboards are some of the most stable around, the bios isnt supposed to be stock piled of options, its meant to be simple for the average user. I dont know what you mean by they dont run an acceptable FSB...
The highest inel bus as of now is 1066Mhz wich is actually a 233Mhz quad pumped bus, every dell I have seen runs the bus speed to whats required for the CPU,and chances are if your ram isnt rated for it, you'll be lucky to hit those timings. Adusting the FSB would result in overclocking, dell does not allow this because someone could unknowingly crank the settings, could blow out some part, then they would complain to dell that their computer died. I still don't get what you mean by acceptable FSB...Please just stuff it. You have no idea what you are talking about...
--------------------------------------------------------
You use unbranded RAM(because if the company is unwilling to put it's name on it then it has to be good)
Its not about the manufacturer, its about that chips it had on the PCB, all ram with the same chips is more or less the same. Dell gets their ram from OEMs, for all you know, they could be sourcing ram from Mushkin, Crucial,etc..
------------------------------------------------------
You use generic low quality power supplies
Their power supplies are actually quite good, most of them are only rated for 350watts or so, but they power x1900XTs and Dual Core P4s without any problems, all the time ive been on these, there has only been 3 or 4 issues about power supplies
----------------------------------------------------
, and Pentium 4 based processers(which Intel admits as being inferior to their competitors current product and even moreso than the upcoming Core 2 series)
First of all, Dell had a contract with intel, they had to use the Pentium 4s, in reality the fastest P4 had SIMILAR performence to the fastest AMD at the time. Conroe (or Core 2) requires a whole new voltage regulator rework, wich means a new motherboard, and replacing many lines of motherboards that fast isnt easy, not to mention they have to manufacture a large supply of them before hand to support deman
--------------------------------------------------
And for the record, most OEMS like HP, eMachines, etc.. prevent overclocking like you. They also use horribly low quality parts but just not as badly as you do
Oh please...eMachines are known as one of the worst PC manufactureres on the face of the earth for low realibility, dells actually have quite high realiability, granted HP is decent, but still behind dell....
------------------------------------------------
To get a real PC, go through Voodoo or Falcon or NW, they actually use quality parts.
Yes, but they are outrageosly expensive and defiently aren't worth what you pay for them
------------------------------------------------
Or you could build a PC of your caliber 1/10 the cost.
Considering the enthuisiast market makes up about 5% of the computing world, that simply isnt and option for 95% of people.
-------------------------------------------------
Look at pricing, you sell directly and cut out middle men, yet your products still manage to cost more...despite quality differences being more or less nonexistant. There is a reason why you(Dell) make more money than any other company.
Yes, because they SHIP MORE COMPUTERS THEN ANY OTHER COMPANY. And quality difference along with brand can be huge, OCZ PSU $300 top rated, Fortron PSU $50 highly rated, considering Fortron makes OCZ's PSUs...Just because its a brand you dont recognize doesnt mean its junk. And its nearly imposible to beat the pricing of Dells low to medium end with the same hardware
--------------------------------------------------
From the reason listed above, you are a company that rips people off and should really start making changes to make your company better.
Dell does not rip people off in the low to medium end, because the people who get low to medium end computers ARE HAPPY WITH THEM, their high end is a little over priced, but alot less then VooDoo of Falcon. Their company is already good enough, they dont practice shady buisness techniques, although their customer support needs work, that is being restructured.
So please, leave these forums and never come back, you don't know what your talking about.- At least s/he's not using objectionable language this time. The Moderator removed 2 other very similar posts from this person for violating the Forum's terms of use. We should all just ignore his/her posts and s/he will go away because there won't be an audience for the whining.

- HT Good HT BAD........we are both right in our point of views... then put Veiws: me - Comp Builder / you - General Public
I pointed out everything from a computer builders point of view and not from the unkowing public and not for the older and less tech people in wich whom don't have the knowlege to know better
If you happen to be someone not into gaming or a normal public person who does not know about Newegg nor the price differences for the performance on building your own PC... then you are right
You told me how some build pc's and others don't, about the prices and about the other part of America that don't care. We are both right
Dell is only horrible to the people who know it's horrible. Others that know no better it is a deal.
if you have the money and no know better or are lazy then its fine to buy them, it's all the same.
So we are both right. HTT Good HT Bad
