XPS 720 proc
Haven't been keeping up with the forums lately so I have a couple questions.
I have an xps 720 with a Q6600 cpu. I plan on upgrading the processor in the next week or 2. What proc's are currently supported (yep I know I need to upgrade bios)? Then of the supported processor's which would be the best bang for the buck. I am not going to upgrade to an extreme due to the fact I am not going to spend that kind of money on it. I was thinking of just a nice minor upgrade.
Thank you in advance.

Try this, but be careful, and you will obviously void your warranty :smileyhappy:

Edit: BTW, it really works well, stable as ever with clearly noticeable difference in performance.

Stil, most games (if that´s what you use your computer for) don´t take advantage of quad-core, and the E8500 would probably be slightly faster in games. If I were you, I would wait for the new iCore7, spending a bit more if you wait will reward you plenty more than a slight upgrade today. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the replies all. Swede, yep I did try that already a little while back. But unfortunately the system became very unstable. I must be one of the unlucky few. :(
Anyway I was wondering if I might see a performance boost if I went with the E8500?
