Thanks for the replies all.  Swede, yep I did try that already a little while back.  But unfortunately the system became very unstable.  I must be one of the unlucky few. :(

Anyway I was wondering if I might see a performance boost if I went with the E8500?

Bummer you didn´t get that O/C to work. I don´t think you would get any performance improvemnts with the E8500 worth any money. Stil, most games (if that´s what you use your computer for) don´t take advantage of quad-core, and the E8500 would probably be slightly faster in games. If I were you, I would wait for the new iCore7, spending a bit more if you wait will reward you plenty more than a slight upgrade today. Just my two cents.
