500m 2nd battery doesn't charge

I have the same problem as many others. My 2nd battery has been delivered with 39% energy. When I tried to charge it, it did not and remained at that level more or less. However, the battery dischages but doesn't charge more than 39%. Did DELL deliver me a 2nd hand battery??????

I wonder if somebody of you guys has got a good idea how to solve this problem...

    Is this a battery for the media bay, or an extra primary battery?  Does your 1st battery work correctly?

    It's the second battery in the media bay that does not charge. Now it remains at 4% and does not charge at all although in Windows XP and in BIOS it says that the battery is charging. However, after 2-4 Minutes the light green battery-LED-indicator on the laptop turns off and it remains at 4%. The first battery charges normally.
