600m power cable

I just purchased a refurbished AC adapter for my Inspiron 600m, except that it didn't come with the power cord that I desperately need. My power cord seems to have a short or something in it, because I have to hold it a certain way near the plug to get any power running through the adapter. Anyways, I need to buy just the power cord and I can't find one at dell.com that says its compatible. I found this one:

and that looks the same as what I need. Any idea if I can use that? Thanks so much!

    You should consider that it is the power jack, not the AC adapter power cord. I also have a 2-year old 600m and already went through buying a new adapter (got 2 in the end!) thinking that that's where the problem was. But it turned out the loose power jack, which, unfortunately for all of us, is a part of the system board.
     
    If you are an excellent solder, you can DIY for $35 (power jack replacement part) or you can have it done for $150.  
     
    It is unfortunate, but a loose power jack is the common problem with Dell laptops. They should do something about it. Or they at least should offer battery chargers, because you could still work the machine off the battery -- which is better than trashing it, because it is 2 yo and does not worth more than $200 investment. I have already spent over $100 for the AC adapter (because initially I got a cheap refurbished one and when it did not work well, I bought a new one, plus all the shipping charges). Now it turns out, it was power jack all along, another $150.
     
    Should I simply get a new machine? It seems such a stupid reason though -- because of a loose power jack -?
     
    DELL, do you hear? DO SOMETHING or your machines ain't worth much!
