I see from posts that my having done a reinstall may be the cause. Prior to that reinstall I chose to have, and I used, 'standby' as a matter of course. At some point I decided the option had no value to me and cancelled the option, this was before the reinstall.

Now, the need arises and the standby option does not exist in the 'power options'

As an aside, noting how many complaints there are about the difficulty of coming out of standby, I wonder if, somehow, DELL have managed to delete the option!!!

Any advice, help better still, would be appreciated.
