Attaching Floppy Drive to D/Dock
Hi everyone.
I would like to connect a floppy drive to my D/Dock, so that it is bootable. I assume that a USB connection would not be bootable. Is there a FD that would fit into the Modular bay of the D/Dock? I've tried to find such a floppy and have had no success.
Also, is there a floppy drive that would fit into the parallel port of the D/Dock, and would that be bootable? I would really prefer the first alternative, to avoid clutter.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jane

Thanks for the info, Randy.
I have a Precision M90 with a D/Dock (no modular bay on the M90 itself). The Bay on the d/Dock seems to have a 5/12" opening and considerable depth. Are the D-Series floppies that size? I also wonder if the M90 will boot from a USB connection. It is somewhat different than the Latitudes, more like an XPS 1710. I didn't post on the Precision board because it has so little traffic.

You have an M90 huh?I received my M70 about 1 week before they announced the M90... typical. If a D600 and an M70 can boot from USB I certainly see no reason that Dell would have to take that pretty basic functionality away from the now top of the line workstation. And yes, the D-series floppies are meant to fit into the same bay as the CD-ROM, DVD R/W, and Media Bay Batteries.Randy-Friendlyname-

Randy,
I looked at the M70 to see what you got. It's a very strong and versitile machine. So, unless you wanted a 17" screen or the dual core, you shouldn't regret it.

Regret it? Heck NO! I'm loving this thing!I would enjoy having the dual core, but this thing is amazing. It's just typical that I received mine only a week before it was no longer the top of the line... Where are my bragging points now!?!Randy
