Boot Loop
My dads laptop Dell XPS M140 just suddenly went to BSOD and then there was a boot loop problem. The system would start, load bios, and then another screen would come up with dell dot com on top and then it will revert back to the beginning and do everything over again.
I can go to set up, but I tried some stuff there, nothings helping.
I had to keep pressing ctrl alt f8 for like 20 times during this loop for it to give me the option to safe boot, safe boot with networking, boot logging, and it had numerous other booting options, i tried them all, none worked.
I'm no newb, ive tried everything, but this matter probably takes more than basics to solve, in which case I dont know what to do so guess I am a newb.
I googled this and I found some scattered information about getting the data out and re installing OS etc etc.
I need the official word, and if I do have to reinstall OS, I will but I don't know how to save the data, I don't want to lose it.

- next time you want to load to the Advanced Windows Options menu, use F8. I am supprised it only took you 20 times, seeing at ctrl-alt-F8 is not the correct keystroke.are you running Vista, or XP? if you are running Vista, choose the repair your computer option and try running a system restore. if not, sounds like it might be time for a PC-Restore.

To attempt data recovery, remove the drive, mount it in an external 2.5" enclosure and attach it to a working PC to see what you can recover.
