hi there i have a dell i belive d400 notbook i want to put windows back on to it i can get into the bios to change boot order and get it to the stage where it says booting from cd then nothing happens it just stays on the screen saying booting from cd

Is it the Dell external CD drive that was made specificially for this model?
If so, you and you are trying to boot from the Windows CD with the BIOS set to boot from CD first, then your only other choice is to try another Windows CD.

Is that just an external CD drive or the one that specifically is for the D400?
