D600 Power Adapter Unknown - Won't Start

Okay, here's the timeline of this problem in a nutshell...

   1.  I trip over power cord

   2.  I plug back in but something shorted and I get electrical smell.....notice pins in laptop are bent

   3.  Unbend and plug back in

   4.  Things work great(2 weeks) but the power cord comes out easily (I think the black piece around the

laptop pins, if one existed, came out and I can't find it).  Anyway, this is fine but my battery does

eventually die (it wasn't being charged anymore), and each time cord comes out laptop shuts off.

   5.  Again, things work fine(+1 week) as long its plugged in UNTIL the cord slipped out during startup.

   6.  It now starts in endless loop, giving the 'AC Power Adapter type cannot be determined' error.

   7.  I also tried it in my docking station that I have for my newer D630. Get Power Adapter Unknown error.

So, what are my choices at this point?

   A.  For starters, can I replace the power portion of the motherboard, the pins, somehow?

I really don't want this backup to become a brick already!

Thanks!
