Dell 5150 received without Hyperthreading

Got my Dell 5150 lap from dell outlet.(it was advertized 3.06GHz P4 with HT)
-The P4 label does not have HT.
- Per a thread here, I checked the BIOS set by hitting F2 and did not see the "enable hyperthreading" option.
DID I Receive a non HT laptop?
Thanks..

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Ran the utility. It did not say the CPU is HT

    Reported Frequency: 3.06Ghz 533 MHz

    Expected Fequency: 3.06GHz 533MHz

Does it confirm the CPU is NON HT?

    Thanks

Use the Intel CPU ID utility to check for sure:

    ebizli,

each intel cpu model has s-Spec number  -  your i5150 will have either SL726 nonHT or SL77P HT P4mobile cpu  (3.06ghz)

does your dell invoice state "with hyperthreading cpu" or "with hyperthreading technology"?

all early production i5150's were nonHT, with later optional upgrade to 3.06/3.20 HT processors

What is the full info listed under CPUID? Stepping, model, etc?

    kwokpc,
    Thanks..
I can't say if its SL726 or SL77P is there any way to find that?
The email confirmation said with " Hyperthreading technology". But i see that always on higher end 3.xx GHz 800FSB models also - if i remember correctly.

Have a look in device manager under processors. If you do not see 2 CPUs then either your CPU does not support hyperthreading or it is turned off.

I checked. There are no two processors in the device manager.

    Hey ebizli!

I read the original post, and i downloaded the intel utility, and ran it. On the initial window, or page, where the Intel Pentium logo is. Look below where it has some scrollable text. It should indicate there whether or not you CPU has HT... as i said, i checked mine and right at the very top of the scrollable text information it says:

"This Intel(R) processor supports Hyper-Threading Technology.
    See
    www.intel.com/info/hyperthreading for more information."

I assume if your's does not say this - then to answer you very first question: Yes you recieved a non-HT laptop, and if it was advertised as such then it seems as though you were mislead. I for one would contact someone about it as i have a very good use for HT. If it does day what i have pasted here, and in your device manager it still only shows one processor, then perahps you could post something about enabling it for the 5150. I would like to help with this one, but im not familiar with the 5150.

Also, if your BIOS does not have any option in relation to HT - then i would say that is another indicator that your system is non-HT...

    Thanks..

Delll technical support confirmed that it is not Hyperthreading after peforming some of the test already mentioned in this forum.

They refused to replace it since it is bought from outlet. They said i can return it if i wanted to.
