i recently purchased a dell inspiron 1720. when i made the configuration online, i selected 1GB DDR 2 @667Mhz. When i purchased it online i got an e mail stating the configuration with the RAM as mentioned above. Then when i see the order status, it says1GB....2DIMM!!! WHERE DID THIS 2 DIMM COME FROM. I NEVER SELECTED A 2 DIMM OPTION.even on the website it doesn't say whether u get 1 DIMM or 2 DIMMs. i talked to the customer service. they say they dont mention it when you purcahse it. you just get it. there is no option.

i feel i have been CHEATED BY DELL. i wanted to upgrade the RAM once i got the laptop. but now i will have to throw away the 2 512MB DIMMs and purchase new DIMMs if i want to make it 2GB. the 1 GB that comes with the original configuration is useless for me.

guys, if you are looking to upgrade your RAM later, you will have to throw away your existing DIMMs.

i feel like suing DELL!!!! why wasnt i told earlier that i will get 2 DIMMs!!!!!
