Desperate request for help w/ Broken USB port, +++++
Hi, & Thank you for your time,
I am no expert. I am referring to my Inspiron 8600, w/, I believe; Intel 1594.MHz; 2 Gb RAM; XP Pro SP2. Sound right?
It was suggested by the moderator of the General (non-technical) board, I try here for help, in his kind attempt at guidance. Also, I should say, there is a lengthy, very detailed explanation, of the full extent of my frustrating ordeal, posted on the General (non-technical) Board. If you find you need or want more information on my problems, I would suggest reading it, titled "WHY WONT ANYONE HELP ME!!!!", on that board, so I don’t annoy any one w/ unnecessary repetition of information.
Here’s the main thing... "I know what the problem is, & what I need, that's what is soooo frustrating!!! I'm no computer genius but, My USB port is in pieces in my hand, so I would say I need a replacement ASAP, as this problem is causing the second port to malfunction so I'm unable to connect to anything most importantly to me right now, my printer!! The only questions...; is there a way to isolate the second port, to make it usable till the second is repaired?;...Is this problem again the error of the tech who replaced the motherboard, and had to return to reconnect hardware he failed to connect on the first visit. & how can I insure I don't have the same tech return, and possibly cause me more concerns?;...and finally, How can I get ANY help from Dell @ all????"
I seek technical help towards enabling the undamaged port to work independently from the broken one.
But, I would also like to be directed where do I go for assistance in getting the repair, and ending this nightmare. And why do you think no one is responding to me. As I have still yet to get any further along, towards resolving this issue, than when it first occurred, I look forward to any & all your responses.
Respectfully yours, Sue

No problem?...your either kidding with me, or you havn't read the afore mentioned post on the General (non-technical) Board. I'll assume it is the latter, and Thank you sincerly for your help, and assure you this is a Dell covered situation.
Thanks again for your time, Sue
- If you have a complete care contract on the system Dell will replace the part with no problem at all, if not you will have to pay so it can be repair if that's the case, you can go to any local computer store and by any PC card that has usb 2.0 ports, and the issue should be resolved.___________________________________________
