Dim Screen

I have a Inspiron 2500.  I seem to have a problem with the screen, in that if I boot the machine normally all I get is a really dim screen.  I have tried Fn+up arrow key and Fn+F7, but to no avail.  However, if I boot the machine in Safe mode the screen is perfect, bright and clear.  Has anyone got any ideas why this is happening?

Any help will be gratefully recieved.

Thanks in advance,

Steven

I have an I8000 and to adjust the brightness, I have to use + Up arrow to increase the brightness or + Down arrow to decrease the brightness.

    Try that.

I think he said he did that.

Considering the screen is bright in safe mode it would point to a software issue.  I would also recommend as the other poster suggested, uninstall the video drivers and install the newest ones available from the downloads tab above.  If that still doesn't help then you will probably have to dig around in driver stuff to see if there are any brightness settings.

Tried downloading the latest video card drivers, but this still didn't work.  Could it be the motherboard?
