Disable touchpad "Tapping".
I am having problems with the Synaptics mouse on a Dell Inspiron. I modify the settings to disable the touch pad "tapping" feature. But I have to do this everytime I reboot the laptop. Why won't the settings stick ?

I am having the same problem and so are 3 of my co-workers who all have the same laptops. Did Bob T's solution help?JKerr91504

I can't remember if this fixed the problem or not but the issue was resolved.I wasn't able to update the drivers; so, I reverted to the previous drivers, rebooted, and reinstalled the drivers from the disk that came with my Inspiron 1100. That seems to have worked.
I have no idea why anyone would ever want tapping to be enabled.TriMin Guy

Actually, for the record, Bob T's solultion did work for me. I downloaded the latest drivers and after I rebooted my laptop came up with the touchpad tapping already disabled, and I've been happy ever since. I agree that tapping is a nuisance. I must have heavy thumbs or something because I kept opening or closing things that weren't supposed to be. But, all's well that ends well...

Jkerr91504,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Try reinstalling the touch-pad drivers and then adjusting the setting.
