DV Camcorder not seen! PLEASE help!
Hi : )
I have a Sony VX2000 camcorder but it is not being seen via the built-in 1934/firewire port.
So far 2 applications just don't see the device.
I have used this camcorder on the Macintosh platform before without any trouble. But on my Dell 5150 it's as if it doesn't exist in any DV capture capable program.
Can anyone PLEASE give some advice?
I did a search of the forums but didn't find this problem specifically.
Thanks for any help : )

- I've tried the order in which they power on.
Both on buring boot, camera off during boot, camera on before programs launched (MovieMaker, Vegas), camera off before programs launched.
The Device Manager says the Firewire port is working and enabled. It's a built-in port on the 5150.
I have only the camera directly connected via 4 pin cable to the computer.
I plug in / turn on the camera and nothing ever happens, no dialog, no recognition, nothing.
Thanks for any help : ) - Thats really odd. I have a 5100 which is essentially the same as yours and all I ever have to do is connect my camers with a 4 pin to 4 pin and turn it on and it is auto detected by my computer and asks me what I would like to do with it. I use Adobe Premier but your computer should detect it no matter whatn program you use. I really don't know what to tell you.

Check under "Network adapters" and look for "1394 Net adapter".
If the Bus controller is working fine, then there might be something wrong with the adapter driver.
