Factory Restore Vista
Working on a Dell laptop that pretty much needs to be reset to factory settings. It is a Dell Inspiron 1501 running Vista.
This is for a relative...it's not mine so I do not have any experience with this laptop and have never used Vista. I have no discs with it.
I can start it up but it is extremely slow etc so I can access everything. It has a Restore Partition. In other machines with xp & Win 7 you can do a recovery via the Factory recovery partion even without discs. In control panel there is a backup & recovery utility that lets you use a backup but it does not let you ausethe factory restore partion. It just says there are no back ups on this computer. Is this a Vista thing?
Can anyone suggest how I make it see or use the recovery partition?
Thanks

Hi ednorton759,
As you have mentioned the system is running slow, you may run hardware diagnostics on the system to check for hardware functionality, by following the steps below:
To check how to restore the system back to factory settings, please refer to the link: http://dell.to/15LzeMK.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to reply for any further assistance.
