Graphics card for I6000
I would like to upgrade the video (graphics) card on my I6000 laptop for Vista. First, is this possible on I600s? I did not see an instalIation instructions for video cards in the manual. I am currently have the integrated Intel graphics card. Also any suggections on a good graphic vieo card? Any where to get a good deal. Thanks.
I talked to Dell support about upgrading my card and they said I can upgrade with a PCI Express card thought the PCI port of my computer. I have never upgraded a graphics card before. Can anyone tell me what my options are and where to go for more information on this issue? Also how to install the card, etc. I should have to buy a new computer just because of a graphics card. Thanks.

You can ask in as many places as you wish to ask, but the answer is the same - to upgrade to an X300 card, which are the only ones available, you will need to replace the system board, which will push the upgrade to several hundred dollars.

It is very uncommon to find a VGA upgradable notebook, the only time you can do so is when the manufacturer ships it with multiple dedicated VGA options, if you have a slower one then you might be able to upgrade to the next option later. However even if a manufacturer provides dedicated VGA options, an upgrade is not always guaranteed.
Even without the upgrade you should be able to run Vista, but without the fancy Aero theme.
