Help with 3d

I have a XPS 17 Core i7-2 820QM NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M with stereoscopic 3d. How do I get it to work? Do I need NVIDIA 3D glasses? What's the setup process? Are there preloaded documents I could reference? I see the "3d Vision Preview pack 1", but when I try to view the images included I get the message "Primary display's adapter does not support 3D Vision". I know I'm a dunce, but, could someone help.

    Shutter glasses

    The glasses use wireless IR protocol and can be charged from a USB cable,

    allowing around 20 hours of continuous use.

    The wireless emitter connects to the USB port and interfaces with the underlying driver software.

    It also contains a VESA Stereo port for connecting supported DLP TV sets, although standalone

    operation without a PC with installed Nvidia 3D Vision driver is not allowed.

    NVIDIA includes one pair of shutter glasses in their 3D Vision kit, SKU 942-10701-0003.

    Each lens operates at 60Hz, and alternate to create a 120Hz 3-dimensional experience.

    This version of 3D Vision supports select 120 Hz monitors, 720p DLP projectors,

    and passive-polarized displays from Zalman.

    Stereo driver

    The stereo driver software can perform automatic stereoscopic conversion by using the 3D models

    submitted by the application and rendering two stereoscopic views instead of the standard mono view.

    The automatic driver works in two modes: fully "automatic" mode, where 3D Vision driver controls

    screen depth (convergence) and stereo separation, and "explicit" mode, where control over screen depth,

    separation, and textures is performed by the game developer with the use of proprietary NVAPI.

    The quad-buffered mode allows developers to control the rendering, avoiding the automatic mode

    of the driver and just presenting the rendered stereo picture to left and right frame buffers

    with associated back buffers.

    Hi there,

    I just bought a Dell inspiron 17R with 3D. It came with one pair of NVIDIA 3D glasses which works properly during the Enable stereoscopic 3D "Run Setup Wizard" (NVIDIA 3D Images slide show). I have a 3D movie that I rendered few years ago using the open source "Blender" whereby I wrote a Python script that generated an extra camera in Blender such that images can be rendered from the Left Camera then the Right Camera. This movie worked correctly on the 3D TV but while playing it on my Dell Laptop (after installing "NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player" from NVIDIA Website), I can see the Red and Blue 3D effect/shadow without wearing the 3D glasses. Using a 3D glasses, I can't see the 3d depth! also I notice that the 3D LED on the Dell Laptop doesn't go ON as usual! Can anybody advise on how to visualize a 3D movie on  Dell inspiron 17R?

     

    Also I bought an extra pair of 3D glasses (Acer, model: E1b) and it does not work at all!! any help on how to use a 3D glasses (Acer, model: E1b) with  Dell inspiron 17R??
