How often should I charge Battery?
Our school bought 13 Latitude C510 computers this past semester and we are not sure how often we should charge the batteries. We do not use them on a regular basis and when we do use them we always connect them using the AC adapters provided. Are we harming the life of the batteries? Should we do some PM on a weekly basis or more frequently to prolong these batteries? Or are we doing okay by plugging them in every time they are used? We are at a stalemate on the correct procedure on this subject. There are opposing opinions supporting both viewpoints. Thanks for any suggestions that you may offer.

Use a system on battery until it's about 10% charged, fully charge it, then repeat. I have seen that if you leave it on AC power all the time, the battery goes dead. It's the same thing for a car battery--if you leave your car sitting in a garage for six to twelve months, chances are good that it's not going to start without jumping the battery. Batteries need to be used to maintain their potential.
If you use docking stations, just try to make a point of using it on battery once a week. It might seem to be a pain, but it's going to be less painful than traveling with a laptop with a dead battery.
