Inspiron 9200 AGP settings.

Have recently boughtan Inspiron 9200 and am very happy with it. But one thing is confusing me. The dell website has the system specification quoted as running at 8x AGP, but the settings within the system only say that the system is capable of 4x AGP and that that is where they are currently set.
Does the inspiron 9200 operate at 8x or 4x AGP, and if it is 4x why does the website quote it at 8x?

It's the mainboard limitation. Intel did not make a mainboard for Pentium M with more than 4x, so even if your video card knows about 8x, your system can't do more than 4x.

Ah, just doubled checked the website, it doesn't actually say that the system is 8xagp, just that the video card supports it. Not very impressed with that little bit of subversive advertising.

mmmm, so why does dell advertise the I9200 on the website as being an 8x AGP system?

There's no real performance difference between AGP 4x and 8x, so don't worry about it.  (Just make sure you've got the newest drivers for the best, most compatible performance.)

I have the exact same issue.  I've been messing with Unreal Tournament 2004 for the last several hours trying to get the freezing to stop.  To be honest, it's unplayable in the current state.  I'm going to try updated drivers.

Is this freezing a known issue with a fix?  If I can't get it working, I will seriously consider returning it.
