Inspiron M5010

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and need help!  My Dell Inspiron M5010 laptop, just over 2 yrs. old, had been running fine except a little slow.  Now when I turn it on, the green light comes on, but the screen is black and I hear 7 beeps in succession, pause, repeat 7 beeps, etc.  The battery and adapter are fine.  I plugged it into my desktop monitor and it was black.  I tried pushing the Fn button & power button as suggested in another post and it won't turn on.  It turns on with the power button only, but not in combination with the Fn button.  Does anybody know what the 7 beeps represent or have any suggestions?  Thanks so much for your help.

The board will run about $200; add another $100 or so in labor if you don't replace it yourself.

It's either a processor or mainboard failure - more likely the mainboard than the CPU;  CPUs very rarely fail.

Thanks for your reply.  I've been away from my computer for awhile.  Can you tell me if that's an expensive repair?
