Installing 64bit Windows 7
Hi
I am trying to work out if my Lattitude E5500 purchased earlier this year will support a 64Bit operating system as I want to try out Windows 7 on the machine an will go for 64 bit if it is supported.
Everest system reporting tool suggests that the cpu (Intel Penryn 3M) will support the x86-64 bit instruction set .
The mobo Bus Width = 64 bit. The BIOS is Pheonix A07. But I am not sure exactly what these settings mean.
Assuming this is going to be okay, I have created a new partition on the hard drive so I will install Win 7 initially as a dual boto with 32bit Win XP. Will this work on a laptop or are there settings int he BISO that need to be changed for the laptop to run a 64bit system at 64bit?
Thanks in advance.
