intel drivers for the 965GM
Hi everyone,
I bought an Inspiron 1525 back in November and I'm really happy with it so far. I like how pretty much everything worked just fine out of the box, especially on Linux. Now, I rarely use the Windows Vista that came with the laptop, but I sometimes do -- I noticed tonight that the intel graphics driver is a bit old (7.14.something, which was released last January, while Intel has already released 7.15 a couple months ago).
So the question is, how can I get around the restriction of only being able to install the Dell-branded Intel driver (which unfortunately is the case -- the original Intel driver refuses to install), or when can we expect an update to the driver otherwise?

Just open the file installation_readme.txt that comes with the generic intel drivers and read section "Manual Have-Disk Installation Instructions". Follow the steps precisely and the driver will install.

Okay Dell where are the updated drivers? Seven months now since Intel's last update.
Here are the latest Intel 965 drivers.I recently installed these on my Inspiron1420 and they are very stable.You must download the zip file and install
through device manager/display/update driver.Point the installer to the unzipped files.

Hello
I have the same Inspiron, with the Express Chipset Family 7.15 and as to gaming, I have problems! Not sure if its the video card, but I am told that it might be the problem. I am a sims player, but sims seems to be not compatible with win vista. but I just bought mine 2 wks ago, so the driver is the same.
So as to drivers for video card, I don`t know why updates aren't available!!
