Keyboard problem
I have an Inspiron laptop that it one month old and this evening the keyboard has started to cause me some problem.
firstyt the shift5 ' {' prints '{_'
also 'y' prints 'y6' and 't' prints 't5'
it must be the keyboard membrane or the keyboard but5 it has hardly been used or moved!
What is the best approach to getting this fixed?

Corey,
I was reading some posts in community forum, because i am having the same keyboard problem with my inspiron 2200, which is out of warranty, and I was wondering what I should do about it. This laptop has not had much use, and is only 6 months old. It seems to me that DELL should help us and give us new keyboard, or at least supply information at no cost as to what we should do. The laptop is not useable.
Thanx,
Janis Murphy

Whatever happened, I am having the same problem. thanxGuys,
The solution is pretty easy :
- unplug the touchpad (unclip the power button panel, remove the keyboard. it is near the keyboard connector)
- call Dell and ask a new one :)
I had exactly the same problem on my XPS : tried a new keyboard and even a new motherboard : no luck, the problem was there. So, I tried to unplug the touchpad and it helped !
