Latitude C800 won't post
Hi Folks,
It seems that my Latitude C800 won't post. It does power on for a few seconds and the CD-ROM drive is activated. After this however, it shuts down.
After I starting having this issue, I tried the following: I have removed and reseated all of the removable items such as hard drive, optical drive, floppy drive, memory, battery, etc. I was finally able to boot to Windows by swapping out my memory module to another slot, however Windows froze up on me after which I got a "blue screen of death" with a "fatal exception" message. Once this happened, I started having my original problem again. I have been able to boot it up a few times since this problem started, but Windows always freezes after a few minutes.
Based on the fact that the problem has been temporarily fixed by reseating the memory, my thought is that this points to a bad memory module or a bad motherboard. I'm going to try and get my hands on some spare memory to test, but in the mean time I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this problem? Any thoughts on what this could be? All advice or comments are welcome. Thanks for your help!

Hi,
It sound like you are on the right track. Memory problems are far more common than a bad socket on the MBD, but it still happens. Are you able to test the memory in another machine ?
