Latitude C840 won't POST
I have a laptop that won't POST at all. When I first plug it in to AC power, I push the power button and the power light comes on for one second. There is one internal "click", as if trying to spin up the hard drive, then nothing. The power light goes out, and will not attempt to turn back on. Then it needs to be unplugged for like 1/2 hour before I can even attempt it again.
Batteries will not charge. With a battery in either compartment, and plugged into AC power, the battery LED by the power LED follows the following flash pattern:
Green - Green - Green - Amber
and then repeats. I've read a lot about the Latitude laptops having battery charging problems, but it won't run off the power-pack alone with no battery attached, either, so I don't think it's directly related to the battery.
Any ideas?
BTW, this is out of warranty, and I'm not willing to sink a lot of money into it. But I'm willing to solder anything on the motherboard if this is related to a bad cap in the charging circuit or something similar.

I replaced the power board, but it still won't POST. Same thing.
Plugged in, with battery installed, I get the same sequence of flashes from the battery light:
three green (fast flashes) then one amber (long flash).
Is there any docs anywhere on the LED sequence, that might tell more of what the problem may be? I'm not really going to sink any more money into the laptop unless I know for sure what is causing the problem.

Is the charger board also responsible for it running off the AC plug directly? Because it won't post even if just on line power.
