M1730 Keyboard colour
Has anyone actually got a M1730 yet? What colour is your keyboard? The pics show black and grey, did you choose any options for the keyboard colour. I've spoken to my Dell account rep for work and he couldn't even find out a definate answer. I would def prefer a black one :D
- Just had mine delivered and this is my first post anywhere with it - so its a bit of a virgin experiment...yes it look exactly the same as the engadget and youtube. First comments-holly smoke that power supply is almost as big as a shoe box!-looks nice but a bit bulky-works quite fast even with running vista-runs very very quiet considering i have the extreme chip although i have not exactly pushed it yet-the keyboard is very different to my acer and sony and will take a while to get used to-how do I setup a profile to turn off all the silly lights and save power unless I need to show off or its late at nightand for all those who are jealous and say its an ugly gaming machine... Im using it as a brute of a development and server machine, its the fastest you can get at the mow and Ive seen alot worse from HP and GatewaySi.

You can change or shut off the lights by going to the Dell Quickset icon on your taskbar. Rightclick on it, click open, select System, then Gaming options. You have your choices there. (There's probably a hotkey for it too).The lighting on the keyboard is very useful when it's dark, but not when there's overhead lighting. You can turn it on or off by pressing Fn-right arrow.I've noticed that there are some differences between the pre-production versions and the shipping unit both in pictures and in the manual that came with the unit.I got the Raid setup with 2-200 GB drives. It's way fast!!- PrincipalJ,you using any flash/micro cards for BoostReady / BootReady etc? If so which ones are the fastest? Im looking for one I can leave in the 8-1 drive most of the time instead of trying to use a usb drive.TASi.

Just ordered an 8GB USB key for just that purpose - will see if it actually helps. I've used the SD slot, but surprisingly, the SD card sticks out a lot more than on my XPS 1710. So much so, that I can't leave it in there when I move the machine. A pain compared to the convenience of the Gen 2.Vista runs a compatibility test on them when I plug them in - telling me whether or not they will be useful.My USB Raid 0 backup drive was deemed unsuitable for the purpose by Vista.ghostrider13

Does anyone know if the m1730 keyboard can be installed on an E1505 or if dell will start selling backlit keyboards for their other models?principalj

Not likely - the 1730 keyboard measures 15" wide by 6" high.Can't say about Dell's future sales plans,...- hi ghostrider13.I am a dell worker and unfortunately or fortunately i build notebooks.So i can tell you,you cant install keybord form xps 1730 (siberia) to diffrent system because inside keybord is diffrenty connector to the mainboard.
