memory clips

Is there a way to secure the ram on a CPx when the clips that hold in the module are broken?  Is tape an option?

Heck, when you get right down to it, a brick is an "option."  Whether it (or tape) is a good idea is another thing entirely.  If it was my system, I think I'd be ordering proper replacement parts instead, and saving the tape for the holiday gift wrapping.

Think how hot your computer gets when its been running for say, 5 hours. Now think of sticky hot gooey tape stuff all over your motherboard, RAM, and CP. There's your reason.

    Hi,

If the clips are broken, and you dont want to replace the Mbd, you could try to hold the Mem. in place with some silicon. Be very carefull not to get it on the contacts, and components. 2 spots at the top should hold it, and temperature wont cause any problems. You can cut it to remove the Mem. Be very carefull if you do this, as you may ruin the Mem as well as the Mbd if you get it wrong.

                                                                           Regards Chris
