monitor darkens when run on batteries

Is there any way to disable the feature on an Inspiron 1150 which automatically darkens the monitor when run on batteries?

On my 5160 I must go to bios setup (F2 on restart) to set the default brightness. Perhaps yours is similar.

Yes it is in the bios. You can adjust the brightness when plugged and unplugged.

Dell quickset will do the same also..

Also, you can adjust it while it is unplugged using the function keys that are highlighted blue and the system will remember next time..

See if pressing the Fn key + up arrow key brightens the screen.
