New or refurbished
Is it possible that if you buy a new computer from Dell it could have come with refurbished parts?
If so how would u be able to tell if its new or refurbished? (specifically im looking at a dvdrom drive, i got sent a new one, but fixed the prob myself while it was in transit, and now wondering which to keep (tech support recommened i keep the one they sent))
Thanks

in all honestly, depending on your make and model of Dell Inspiron... most parts being replaced are refurbished. Dell will never send you a new part, unless you pay for it.also, I would preferably take a Dell certified replacement part over a hand fixed part simply because what you may have fixed could possibly break down.
just my 2 cents...
It wasnt really hand fixed, I just applied a fireware update (interestingly, dell techs didnt suggest this, and didnt even seem interested in my dvd drive model)
But thanksI keep my original in the end, since i know whats its been through, as opposed to the refurbished one.
