PC card cannot start code 10, D800
I have a D800 where Windows 2000 was installed by my IT guys on a D600 and then they shipped the hard drive to me (they did not have a D800 available). I've downloaded and installed all of the relavant drivers from the Dell website and everything is working fine except for PC cards.
If I insert a PC card like a compact flash adapter, it recoginizes it as a removable disk and assigns a drive letter appropriately. This PC card is working fine.
However, if I install a Netgear Wireless PC card (32-bit cardbus WG511) or a Verizon CDMA Network wireless card, the appropriate beep is made when the card is inserted, but in both cases the status of the card says "PC card cannot start, code 10". In both cases I reinstalled the drivers that go with the cards and that does not solve the problem.
As I stated above, I did download drivers from the Dell website including the drivers for the TI PCI7510 Cardbus controller in the D800. When I look at the PCMCIA adapters in the Device manager, there are two entries:
- TI CardBus Controller with SmartCard
- TI PCI7510 CardBus Controller
and both are shown to be functioning properly.
If anyone has ideas on what I could try next, I would appreciate it.
