Problem updating Drivers
Hi, I own a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop and I am having problems updating the drivers. I went to the Drivers and Downloads section on the dell website, typed in my service tag, and noticed 12 recommended and 1 urgent downloads/drivers needed to be downloaded. I downloaded all 13, but it still shows that the same ones are being recommended for downloading. Should that change? Also, I question if these are actually updated drivers. I downloaded Driver max to see my if my drivers were updated and they weren't at all. For instance, I downloaded the driver for my Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family off of the dell website. The driver version was 8.15.10.1994. However, driver max and Intels website show that 8.15.10 2302 is actually the correct update. I also installed Driver Checker and the same results...out dated drivers. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Okay that makes since. However, I still can't seem to download driver updates from intel. It says this "This device is unknown or unsupported. Please contact the manufacturer for possible updates. " when I use the Intel Driver Update Utility. I just used Driver Max to update my drivers, however, I heard that programs like that aren't reliable

Just because you used your tag you will not be offered only the drivers you need. Every driver available will be listed in case you need a complete reinstall, not just the ones you might need, so you have to know what you already have. Note the dates of drivers to be downloaded. If it's dated before you bought your computer, you don't need it. Actually laptops rarely need driver updates. You can sign up to be notified when a newer driver or bios is available. Normally you might need only video drivers and bios updates.
