Problem with 'Auto Power On' 9300
Hi, I'm using the Inspiron 9300 with BIOS revision A05,
My ISP offers off-peak downloads between 2 and 9 am, so I want to start my computer at 2:00 so a sheduald task can run at 2:15 to start downloading.
I changed the BIOS settings to reflect this, the only problem is that the computer doesn't start at 2AM, it starts at Midnight.
Is this a known problem, am I doing something wrong and is there a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Now I'm confused, this morning it must have started at 2, because I didn't hear it start at midnight, but I didn't change any settings.thepizzaking

No, that's working fine, It's the Auto Power On in BIOS. Although the windows task scheduler did stuff up last Sunday morning when daylight savings started, but thats a different story.556_chowder

If your talking about schedualing download times via windows, you may have a problem with your windows time, region settings, or time zone. Double click on the clock on the lower right of your task bar and make sure your correct timezone is selected. Check your date and time too.thepizzaking

I can hear the fans, they are pretty quiet though, they do speed up when I'm playing games or doing CPU intensive tasks.
As for going back to A04, I might just see what happens tonight first.Message Edited by thepizzaking on 10-31-2005 06:07 PM

Since I've had major problems with the A05 bios, I would recommend flashing back to the A04 bios and see what happens. Here is the link to the bios. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/previousversions.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releasetype=BIOS&vercnt=4&deviceid=7000&typecnt=1&osl=en&SystemID=INSPIRON%209300&os=WW1
Since you have the A05 bios, tell me if you can hear the fans working or not. I'm currious.

You may want to try this: http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/I upgraded the BIOS as well and my fans seemed to have stopped completely now. This little utility works fine on a 9300, just if you start it, then close the program, the fans will stop completely. It's able to run in your system tray so you can keep it up without another item on your taskbar. :)
